NICHOLS, N.Y. (WENY) -- A storage facility at Tire-Land USA was completely destroyed by an early morning fire that could be seen from miles away. After hours battling the blaze, firefighters from throughout Tioga County, N.Y. and Bradford County PA. finally put it out. 

"The building stored tires, and tires burn very hot. So, it took a lot of water to put it out," said Nichols Joint Fire District Chief Ray Thetga Jr.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Thetga said there were no injuries but that the building was completely destroyed. 

According to a brief statement put out on Facebook this morning Tire-land USA will be closed today and tomorrow. 


NICHOLS, N.Y. (WENY) -- Firefighters have spent the better part of the morning battling a massive blaze at Tire-land USA. According to Tioga County officials, the structure was a storage facility, and there have been no reported injuries yet. 

The call for the fire went out around 4:30 a.m., no word yet on what the cause is. It is still unknown if the fire has been put completely out but according to witnesses, at its peak the bright flames and thick smoke could be seen for miles away.
