Haverling's William Whaley signs to swim at Division II Roberts Wesleyan University
BATH, N.Y. (WENY) - Haverling standout swimmer, William Whaley is set to compete at the next level as he signed to Division II Roberts Wesleyan University.
Whaley has been swimming competitively since 2014. He started on the Bath Eels Swim Team, then spent two years on the Haverling modified swim team followed by joining the Haverling varsity swim team. William swam mainly the Breaststroke and Individual Medley as a freshman, Butterfly and Individual Medley as a sophomore and junior, and Butterfly and 200 Freestyle his senior year. Whaley was named an LCAA All-Star the last two years and was a captain of the swim team.
Whaley says he plans to major in Adolescence Education at Roberts Wesleyan and he is excited about the next step.
"Ever since I was a little kid, I've always dreamed of going to the next level and it means a lot to fulfill my dreams that I've had for such a long time," said Whaley. "I went there on a recruiting day and their coach, I really got along with her and I really like their program that they have there, it's a growing program. It's going to be a little bit of a jump, doing more workouts in the morning but I'm really excited to make that jump. It'll be really good for me.
Whaley also reflected on what he'll cherish the most from his time at Haverling.
"The swimmers that I got to swim with throughout the years and the coach that I've been coaching with ever since I was nine years old," Whaley said.
