ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - An Elmira man with a prior child sex conviction is accused of possessing child porn on several electronic devices.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, 55-year-old Eugene Criss of Elmira was arrested and charged by criminal complaint with possession of child pornography by an individual with a prior sex offense conviction.

The Attorney's Office office says that according to the complaint, Criss shared suspected child pornography with an undercover law enforcement agency.

The Attorney's Office says that on April 5th, investigators conducted a search warrant at Criss' home, during which many devices including a cell phone, laptop computer, a thumb drive, and a tablet.

Officials said a review of the thumb drive found more than 1,000 files in more than 700 folders of suspected child pornography.

Criss made an appearance before a U.S. Judge and was held pending a detention hearing on April 14th.

The charge carries a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum of 20 years.
