Library in Elmira hosts first 'Pop-Expo'
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Steele Memorial Library hosted its first-ever Pop Expo on Saturday. Originally slated to happen in 2019, the pandemic put a pause on the event for comic book and anime fans.
"Today is the Steele Con Expo," said Steele Memorial Staff Jennie Lewis. "It's our first comp expo and we hope to do it in the future again. Basically, it is a mini Comicon."
The event was a celebration of comics, art, games, and pop culture. There were many activities available to fit a variety of interests.
"We are all cosplaying here from Animes and games," said attendee Ajay Augustine. "We are all having fun and role-playing."
On Sunday, April 23 the Ithaca Comicon Fest will continue at the Campus Center and Williams Hall at Ithaca College. Ithacon will begin at 11 AM and run until 4 PM. Evening gaming will be offered until 8 PM.
