'Free Comic Book Day and Pop Expo' happening Saturday

ELMIRA HEIGHTS, N.Y. (WENY) -- Saturday is Free Comic Book Day, which is an international promotional event that many bookstores participate in. Stores can choose to observe the day by handing out free comics to customers.
In observation of Free Comic Book Day, the Heroes Comic Shop in Elmira Heights is putting on an event called 'Free Comic Book Day + Pop Market'. The event is featuring comic creators, artists, crafters, food vendors and other local shops. It is taking place at the Elmira Heights American Legion from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
"I wanted to make Free Comic Book Day a big event. So we moved the event out of the store and invited all of our creative friends to join," said Jared Aiosa, the owner of Heroes Comic Shop.
Local vendors at the event include The Game Shoppe, Cookies By Miranda, Thendy Comics and Nate's Brick Shop. The Free Comic Book Day and Pop Expo will also feature Brian Middleton, the creator of Poiko.
There is no admission fee to the Pop Market event.
