ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Final preparations are underway for Elmira College's Theatre Program's production of Pasek and Paul's "Edges."

Written by the same team behind "Dear Evan Hansen" and "The Greatest Showman," "Edges" follows a group of adults in their twenties who navigate the world in a coming-of-age story about self-discovery.

"Benj Pasek and Justin Paul decided to write it because they were in Michigan State at the time, and they were unhappy about the roles they got in the theater program," said Jasmine Denny, one of the cast members in Elmira College's production. "So, they decided to write 'Edges.'"

Rather than a traditional musical with a plot accompanied by songs, "Edges" uses the "song cycle" format, where a combination of group numbers and solos is used to tell a specific story.

"It's more of a theatrical-like concert," said Melody Buckley, another cast member of Elmira College's production. "It flows through the entire show. It has different plot lines, but everything kind of comes together pretty smoothly."

Elmira College's production of "Edges" will take place on May 19 at 7:30 p.m. and May 20 at 2 p.m. Both performances will be held at Elmira College's Gibson Theatre. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door or online here. Tickets will also be free for children 12 years old or younger, as well as current Elmira College students and employees who bring their campus ID.
