Elmira Artist Prepares for Infinite Canvas Mural Fest
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) - A local artist appeared in downtown Elmira Tuesday in preparation for this summer's infinite canvas mural fest.
Artist Filomena Jack spent part of the morning working on the "Read Write Listen" mural at the south end of The Elmira Promenade, at the corner of Clemens Center Parkway and West Water Street.
Jack said the mural location is a space where artists can conduct spoken word and poetry readings.
She said she loves what she does to help brighten the community.
"I love bright happy colors and I love spaces where people feel this is their community, Jack said. "It's a great spot to take a selfie, we're really close to the highway, so people can check out the mural when they are passing through Elmira."
Community Arts will hold a Mural fest on June 3rd on Railroad Avenue. Jack says she will be there painting a "very large creature" as part of the event.
