WASHINGTON, D.C. - Hey batter batter swing! Congressional republicans have defeated the democrats in a game of baseball. 

Members on both sides of the aisle participated in the annual Congressional Baseball Game. Last year the game raised $1.5 million for local charities like the Boys and Girls Club and the US Capitol Police Memorial Fund. This year's total wasn't immediately announced. Players consisted of party leaders like republican whip Steve Scalise (R- LA) and House democratic minority leader Hakeem Jeffries (D- NY) to freshman members. This year the republicans beat the democrats 16-5.
