19th annual tricycle relay race for the United Way of the Southern Tier

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- Six teams peddled in a relay race on 12-inch child-size tricycles with a goal to fund-raise for the United Way of the Southern Tier. During the 19th annual trike race, teams from Corning Credit Union, CCU Wealth Strategies, Chemung Canal Trust Company, First Heritage Federal Credit Union, ServU Federal Credit Union, and Community Bank raced around a parking lot for the Trike Trophy.
The race began at 7:45 a.m. at the Community Bank parking lot in downtown Elmira. Each team will send drivers on tricycles swerving through cones. The last teammate has to land a football in a corner and grab their company name off the goalpost. The fast five minutes were funny, wholesome, and community-based before everyone headed into work.
2023's winner was First Heritage Federal Credit Union.
"It feels so good to be taken home first place today," said Jesse Reib, an employee for First Heritage Federal Credit Union. "Something that we've really wanted to do to help support the United Way and we like to win."
The teams peddled in one after another: in second place was Corning Credit Union Wealth Strategies, followed by, Servu Federal Credit Union, Corning Credit Union, and Chemung Canal Trust Company.
The team times:
- First Heritage Federal Credit Union: 2:45
- Corning Credit Union Wealth Strategies: 2:57
- Servu Federal Credit Union: 3:29
- Corning Credit Union: 3:50
- Chemung Canal Trust Company: 3:51
The United Way of the Southern Tier raised $1500 which will help dozens of local programs.
