GALETON BOROUGH, PA. (WENY) -- Pennsylvania State Police have charged a Gaines man with attempted murder and 14 other crimes after allegedly shooting a man and then trying to shoot a woman at a home on Germania St. in Galeton Borough.

According to a press release provided by police, the suspect, 59-year-old Robert Wildey, trespassed and burglarized the home in the middle of the afternoon on Sept. 10 around 1:30 p.m. He allegedly confronted, threatened and shot the homeowner, and attempted to do the same to the woman in the house at the time. Police say Wildey shortly after fled the scene. 

Police found the suspect the day after the incident on Sept. 11. Wildey was placed in a State Correctional Institution and was denied bail. 

Wildey is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, burglary, criminal trespassing, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, and simple assault.
