HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- A Horseheads' staple is up for sale. Beef's near Hanover Square is on the market as of February 17th.
Jenifer Driscoll and her husband own and operate Beef's Sports Bar and Grill. Driscoll said her husband bought the bar in the 1990's, and since then, it has been a place for friends and families gather. She said they operated the bar, and then it was leased out for 13 years, and now it is back in the Driscoll's hands. Driscoll said now it is time to retire.
"Its time to move onto the next chapter, into retirement. We've been here for many many years, and now it's time for some new blood," said Jenifer Driscoll, one of the owners of Beef's.
She said they did some necessary improvements to the building, and now want to retire and continue to foster puppies in need. Employees and patrons alike said they hope Beef's CONTINUES TO OPERATE UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP.
"We're basically the glue of Hanover square. When someone mentions hanover square, it's beef's. then they will wander to the other establishments, but beef's is the glue to hanover square," said TAMMY HARVEY, a bartender who has been working at Beef's for 15 years.
Beef's is currently listed with a price tag of $799,900 with Signature Properties. Despite being for sale, Beef's is still open for business.
