CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) -- The old Steuben County Courthouse in Corning could be serving a new purpose soon.

The courthouse is a historic building on First Street in Corning.

It used to be the Stueben County DMV, but it has recently come under new ownership. According to the Corning City Council agenda, the city has been asked to apply for a New York State grant that helps funds the restoration of historic buildings. The new owners plan to turn the building into seven apartment units.

The city voted to host a public hearing on May 6 about applying for this grant.
