ALBANY, NY (WENY)--FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP COULD FACE JAIL TIME IF HE CONTINUES TO VIOLATE A GAG ORDER FROM A JUDGE IN HIS NEW YORK HUSH MONEY CASE.

THE JUDGE Tuesday FINED TRUMP $9,000 FOR repeatedly VIOLATING THE GAG ORDER THAT BARS HIM FROM MAKING PUBLIC STATEMENTS ABOUT HIS CASE AND THOSE connected TO IT.

SOME political EXPERTS SAid THIS VIOLATION AT THIS POINT LIKELY WON’T HAVE AN IMPACT ON HIS SUPPORTERS BUT IT COULD BE A DIFFERENT STORY IF TRUMP VIOLATES THE GAG ORDER AGAIN.

“If it escalated to the point of the judge having to impose heavier penalties up to and including perhaps imprisonment of some sort that might start eating into folks in the middle, independents,” said said Dr. Jim Twombly, Professor Emeritus of Ppolitical Sscience.

THE HUSH MONEY CASE ALLEGES THAT TRUMP FALSIFIED BUSINESS RECORDS IN ORDER TO PREVENT AN ADULT FILM ACTRESS FROM PUBLICIZING AN ALLEGED SEXUAL ENCOUNTER THAT COULD HAVE HURT HIS 2016 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN.

Other political experts said this trial could potentially have an impact for independent voters.

"If let's say he is found guilty on all or some of these charges, he would be a convicted felon and that would be something that we would have to see for voters in the middle how that would quite sink in and play," said Shawn Donahue, a clinical assistant professor of political science at the University at Buffalo.

TWOMBLY SAid THIS TRIAL IN ADDITION TO OTHERS THE FORMER PRESIDENT FACES LIKELY WON’T HURT TRUMP’S STANDING WITH HIS SUPPORTERS TOO MUCH – BUT WHAT COULD HURT HIM IS HIS TIME OFF THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL.

“He’s pretty much anchored to New York while he’s in court and can’t travel to these other important states where he needs to try to tip the balance away from Biden,” he said.

TWOMBLY SAid THIS WILL BECOME MORE SIGNIFICANT FOR TRUMP THE CLOSER THE ELECTION GETS.

“If he’s stuck in court obviously at crucial moment in the political calendar, he can’t be out on the campaign trail that gives Biden a distinct advantage at least in terms of getting out to greet voters,” he said.
