UPDATE 5/18/2024 10:35 PM:  After the Chemung County Fair announced that the ride vendor "Wheelock Rides" would no longer be a vendor at this year's fair, the board of directors sought a new amusement ride provider. On Saturday, May 18th the Chemung County Fair shared Swikas Amusement will be the carnival operator for 2024.

The announcement on Facebook included the message, "We Have Rides!" The post also thanked the board of directors who worked tirelessly to make this possible.

The fair is scheduled to kick off Wednesday, July 31st.

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- According to the Chemung County Fair Facebook page, the contracted vendor for rides and games at the fair has gone out of business. 

The Chemung Co. Fair said it was under contract with the company Wheelock.  They said were they told in the last week of April that Wheellock was going out of business, invalidating their contract and affecting the status of rides and games for the fair. 

"While this unfortunate event is out of our control, we are doing our best to find a solution," said the Facebook post.  The post also said they have contacted 15 nationwide ride companies to try and find another vendor.
