CORNING, N.Y. (WENY) - Corning's Tori Holmes signed her National Letter of Intent Thursday afternoon. Holmes signed to play Division I rugby for Mount St. Mary's University.

Tori has been a member of the Corning Lions Rugby Club since she was in 8th grade. In 2023 Holmes helped lead her team to victory in the New York State championship. She was then named the top player in the state at her position.

Holmes is very excited to take her talents to the Division I level.

"Having my coaches talk and signing the letter--all of those things were so amazing and so fun. I cannot wait to join "The Mount" and be a Mountaineer. They were so open and so welcoming the second that I walked on campus. The girls team already treated me like a teammate instead of someone they were trying to recruit. They were so kind" said Holmes.

Head Coach, Robert McGee talked about the opportunity at hand.

"Just excited for the opportunities for Tori", said McGee. "She's our third girl that's signed to go play DI or DII college rugby this year. Just exciting to have an opportunity to continue to go play the game."

WENY Sports wishes Tori good luck as she extends her athletic career into college.
