WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) -- Every January, the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel hosts their Fire and Ice Celebration. A portion of the proceeds was donated to the Schuyler Health Foundation this year.

''We combined our efforts together to have some fun and to raise some funding for what we all know as an important part of the quality of life in Schuyler County and that is the Schuyler County Hospital,'' said David Hart, President and CEO of Hart Hotels.

David Hart said that the Fire and Ice event at the Harbor Hotel was a success. Nearly 3,000 tickets were sold in January, and many local businesses contributed to the event. The money will benefit the Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls.

''We are in the middle of a transformation grant that we are raising money for.  We had a goal of $800,000. The $20,000 is really helpful to us. We are going to use that for reservations of our Seneca View in the same facility. It will be put to good use to upgrade and modernize things we could not have done in the past,'' said Kimberly Sprague, Director of Schuyler Health Foundation.

Plans are already underway for next year's Fire and Ice Celebration at the Harbor Hotel in January.
