Driver dies after pickup crashes into building; medical emergency suspected

12PM UPDATE -- The Chemung County Sheriff's office release more information regarding Wednesday morning's crash in Horseheads.
According to authorities, the driver is identified as 61-year-old Michael Vargo, who has passed away. The Sheriff's Office states a preliminary investigation indicates that Vargo suffered a cardiac event while driving the pickup truck, causing it to go off the shoulder of Old Ithaca Road and into the building.
Vargo was unresponsive at the scene, and taken to Arnot Ogden Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased upon arrival.
HORSEHEADS, N.Y. -- Around 5:35 a.m. Wednesday morning, emergency personnel responded to a car accident on Old Ithaca Road.
A blue pickup truck crashed into the side of Interstate Batteries Distributors, a car battery store in Horseheads.
Erway ambulance and multiple police cars were seen putting up caution tape.
It's unclear what led to the accident or if there were more people in the vehicle.
A WENY News reporter at the scene says one person was carried out on a stretcher, but no word yet if any injuries were sustained.
