ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) -- New York State Senator Lea Webb announced on Thursday, June 13th that she has secured $300,000 in state funding for improvements at Cass Park in Ithaca. Webb was on hand at Cass Park to present City officials with a check.

"It's really important as leaders we continue to invest in these community assets, and this investment, this is the largest investment I've made so far during my time in the senate with regards to parks, so I look forward to providing more resources and support, not only Cass Park, but other important resources that we have here in Senate District fifty two," Webb said.

Specifically, the money will go towards infrastructure, including improving the park's bathrooms and cold storage facilities. When asked what the timeline for the project is, Webb said local officials would make the final call, but added she hoped the work gets done as soon as possible.

Local officials were also on hand, and described the park as a community gem that supports youth programs and other recreational activities in the community. Webb added that community parks are assets to municipalities across New York, and that supporting them is important.
