WEST ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The basketball courts of West Elmira's Pirozzolo Park are set to be rehabilitated thanks to a $20,000 grant from T-Mobile. The telecommunications company is providing grants to 300 different communities across 47 states.

"We are beyond grateful that the rehab of our Town of Elmira basketball courts, will be funded in no small part by the T-Mobile Hometown Grant. For the last year, we have had a vigorous volunteer effort and now those efforts can be supported with funds from the T-Mobile grant; allowing the courts to be completed and enjoyed for years to come," said Town of Elmira Supervisor Ann Gerould.

Elmira and another New York State town received the grants today. Ithaca also received a $50,000 T-Mobile Hometown Grant. A project reveal and check presentation is currently set for Wednesday, July 10 at 5:30 p.m. located at Pirozzolo Park at 1255 West Water St., Elmira.

"This collaboration between Resident volunteers, government, and the private corporate sector is evidence that entities can work together to achieve that which makes a community a great place to live and play," said Gerould.
