NEW YORK (WENY) -- Over $2.1 million in New York State funding is coming to veteran service agencies in the Southern Tier.

According to the state, the money is through capital grants to support the missions and infrastructure of key non-profits. The grants were awarded through the Nonprofit Infrastructure Capital Investment Program and the Veterans’ Nonprofit Capital Program. Here are the organizations receiving funding:

  • Family Services of Chemung County - $499,275
  • Chemung-Schuyler Counties Chapter NYSARC Inc. - $291,429
  • Family Service Society Inc. - $382,166.47
  • Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc. - $495,060
  • Tioga Opportunities Inc. - $450,000

“From transformative renovations to service facilities to basic upgrades that keep them running, these awards will help to bolster our nonprofit sector, strengthen communities, and ensure that New York families can stay connected to vital services,” said New York Governor Kathy Hochul, a Democrat.

Statewide, $40 million in grants were divided between 136 organizations. Agencies that support veterans, service members and their families were eligible for funding.
