UPDATE: The strong storms that moved through Chemung County Wednesday prompted the rescheduling of the Chemung County Sewer District open house. The event is now scheduled for Wednesday, July 17 at 6 p.m.

Weather permitting, there will still be a tour of the facility. Chemung County officials are still expected to be on hand for the event.

CHEMUNG COUNTY, NY (WENY) -- Chemung County Executive Chris Moss announced on Tuesday, July 2 that the Chemung County Sewer District will be hosting an open house, July 10, to break down the latest on the County's $275 million state mandated sewer project.

Things will kick off at 6 p.m. at 600 Milton Street in the Town of Southport.

Weather permitting there will also be a tour. Along with Moss, the Alie Rennie, Director of the Sewer District will also be in attendance.

The multi-million dollar project is the reason some Chemung County residents have seen their sewer bills increase by over 70 percent.

Moss previously said the County's sewer system is decades old and has been long overlooked.
