TIOGA, P.A. (WENY) -- Day two of the Moving Wall in Tioga brought many new faces who all had a special reason to come and see the display. The replica display traveling the country is giving people the chance to visit it locally and honor those who served. People flooded Williamson High School and talked about what the wall means to them.

"Bringing the Moving Wall back to Tioga County, Pennsylvania allows us to pay our respects and honor these Vietnam Veterans that never got the appropriate welcome home that they should have received when they came back," said Jessica Barron, the Chairman of The Moving Wall. "So, it is our way to pay tribute and to honor them."

Many people, especially veterans, don't have the capabilities to travel to Washington D.C. so the wall coming to the Twin Tiers area provides them with the chance to reflect on their own experiences and acknowledge those they served with.

Veterans walked around the wall and shared stories with one another about their time in the war. It was a learning opportunity for some, but it was also a way to commemorate fellow soldiers lost in the war.

"People should understand how we lost the troops over there," said Sar Phouthasack, a Vietnam Veteran. "How fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters didn't come home. We're supposed to respect and honor them and learn the history. We never ever forget history. History is really important. That's why I say, please come and take a look at the wall."

Alongside the display, readers were present and took turns at a podium saying each individual name that was up on the wall.

Veterans and organizers hope that the wall and all that accompanies it will help to pass on the history and legacy of the war and those who served in it. They encourage anyone and everyone to come out to the free display and try to understand what it means to them.

"It's so important to educate our youth so they can gain a significant piece of American history so that they are not forgotten," said Barron.

Plenty of people got the chance to pay their respects at the Moving Wall over the last few days and talk about what it means to them. It means something different to everyone. People can continue to do so for the next few days until the wall leaves on July 15.
