UPDATE: Three people die in crash on I-86 in Chemung, names of victims released
UPDATE 7/21/2024: The names of the three people who died in the Friday accident in Chemung has been released.
According to New York State Police blotters and a GoFundMe page:
Steven A. Mallory, 36, Horseheads, N.Y.
Colin J. Ferrell, 18, Endicott, N.Y.
Tiffany Ferrell, 44, Endicott, N.Y.

CHEMUNG, N.Y. (WENY) --Three people were killed in a deadly crash on Interstate 86 in Chemung, N.Y. on Friday.
According to New York State Police, a 36-year-old man driving west in a 2018 Nissan Maxima crossed over the grass median, and into the eastbound lane of traffic, hitting a 2015 Acura RDX. Police say the Acura was driven by an 18-year-old man, with a 44-year-old female passenger.
The crash happened around 4:50 p.m.; all three crash victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to 511NY, I-86 East was blocked off shortly after the crash between the Lowman and Chemung exits. As of 11 p.m. Friday, the highway has reopened. The westbound lane was blocked as well for a time, according to an eyewitness, but has since reopened.
Police say this is an ongoing investigation, the identities of the people who died in the crash have not yet been released.
