ALBANY, NY (WENY)--GOV. KATHY HOCHUL AND A GROWING NUMBER OF NEW YORK STATE AND FEDERAL LAWMAKERS HAVE ENDORSED VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS TO REPLACE BIDEN FOLLOWING HIS BOMBSHELL ANNOUNCEMENT ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

NEW YORK SENATOR KIRSTEN GILLIBRAND HAS ALSO JOINED THE CHORUS – SAYING THE VICE PRESIDENT IS AN UNWAVERING CHAMPION FOR FAMILIES, WORKERS, AND JUSTICE AND SHE IS EAGER TO JOIN HER IN THIS FIGHT.

GOV. KATHY HOCHUL SAID THAT WHILE SHE’S GLAD SHE SUPPORTED BIDEN IN HIS CAMPAIGN, SHE’S EXCITED TO SEE A CANDIDATE LIKE KAMALA HARRIS DRAW INCREDIBLE CONTRAST AGAINST DONALD TRUMP.

“Consider the following, a prosecutor against a convicted felon, a woman who has stood up for women’s rights, who stands up for women and an individual who abuses women, a person who stands up and protects democracy and a person who attacks it,” Hochul said.

HOCHUL SAID SHE EXPECTS THIS CAMPAIGN SEASON WILL BE HISTORIC.

“This is going to be a campaign for the ages as people get a chance to see the starkest difference that we’ve seen in my lifetime so I’m excited to be out there for her,” she said.

HOCHUL said SHE WILL BE CONVENING WITH DEMOCRATIC DELEGATES SOON TO TALK ABOUT NEW YORK'S INFLUENCE AT THE UPCOMING DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION.

SOME POLITICAL EXPERTS SAid MANY OF THE ISSUES DEMOCRATS HAD WITH BIDEN, INCLUDING HIS AGE AND MENTAL CAPABILITY, DON'T EXIST WITH HARRIS.

“I think what Democrats are trying to do right now is to say, ‘oh no you’ve got the old candidate Republican party; you’ve got the guy who's in mental decline talking about electrocution and sharks and Hannibal Lecter,” said Shawn Donahue, a political science professor at SUNY Buffalo.
