Public hearing set for possible community solar farm in Southport
SOUTHPORT, N.Y. (WENY) -- At the Southport Planning Board meeting Tuesday night, plans were presented for a community solar farm. These panels would be located on the 1300 of Maple Ave, on a plot of private property.
In total, there would be 14.6 acres of solar panels managed by Delaware River Solar. Under the New York State Community Solar Program, people who subscribe to the project can receive credits on their regular electric bill for the clean energy produced.
Since the plans were presented to the planning board Tuesday, there's still several steps of approval needed before this could be put into place. However, the public hearing about this project is set for the next Southport Planning Board Meeting, which is Tuesday, October 7th at 7 p.m.
