BATH, N.Y. (WENY) - Haverling's Kaili Witherell has had an impressive softball career with the Rams, and she still has one season left. After this spring, Kaili is set to compete at the Division-I level, signing to Texas State University.

Kaili has been dominant in the circle at Haverling. Over the last two seasons, Witherell has a 0.42 ERA with 483 strikeouts compared to just 38 walks. She also owns a career record of 30-5. At the plate, Kaili had a .400 batting average last season with 10 extra base hits, 11 RBI's, and one home run.

Witherell will join a strong Texas State program that went 47-15 last season where they won the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and played in the NCAA College Station Regional before falling to Texas A&M.

After celebrating with family and friends on Wednesday, Witherell is ready to roll at the next level.

"It's fantastic, I'm so excited to go and meet my new teammates, see the campus and the school again, and actually be a part of the atmosphere at the D-I level," Witherell said. "I went to a camp there originally, and when I went to that camp, the coaches were so nice, the team currently playing there just accepted me as one of them right on the spot, and then when I went back for my visit later, the campus was beautiful, again, the coaches were extraordinary and it just made me feel like I was at home."

Witherell and the Haverling softball team advanced to the Section V Championship multiple times but couldn't come away with a title, so they have one more goal this spring before she leaves.

"A lot of the team is the same girls from both of those two years and it's been Wellsville in the finals with us every single year so we're going at it this year," she added. "We are trying our hardest and it is super important to me to get to that next hopefully state level."

Witherell says she is not fully decided on what she will major in at Texas State, but she is thinking about studying Education.
