Police: Burglar rescued from roof after breaking into Bath Ambulance building
BATH, N.Y. (WENY) -- An early morning burglary sparked a roof-top rescue in Bath on Tuesday.
According to Bath P.D., officers were called out to the Bath Ambulance building on East Steuben Street for a report of a burglary at roughly 2:46 a.m. Police said the suspect got into the building by smashing glass on the front door.
When officers arrived, the suspect was hanging out a 2nd story window. Police said they tried to convince the man to come down by going back into the building, but instead he climbed to the roof. The Bath Fire Department was called in to get the man off the roof after police said the man refused to come down. After firefighters got the man down off the roof, he was taken to the hospital to be treated for self-sustained injuries.
Police identified the man as 38-year-old James L. Dyer of Waterloo. He was charged with burglary and criminal mischief.
