NYSP identifies victim of Hornby House Fire
UPDATE: 01/28/25 1 P.M. -- New York State Police have identified the victim as Quinton T. Harrison, age 69, of Hornby, NY.
12PM UPDATE: New York State Police say an elderly man who was trapped in the home passed away as a result of the fire.
Police say troopers tried to rescue the man from inside the home, but were unsuccessful because the house was fully engulfed in flames.
The victim's identity has not been released; the cause of the fire is under investigation.
HORNBY, N.Y. (WENY) -- A home in the Town of Hornby was destroyed by a fire Wednesday night.
Multiple fire departments from around the immediate area were called out to the Hornby Road Home. A portion of the road was closed off as crews set up portable water tanks nearby. The fire happened sometime around 7:50 p.m. The home involved is just north of the Cox Road intersection.
No word yet if anyone was injured -- or the full extent of the damage.
