(WENY) -- It's official, Punxsutawney Phil says there are six more weeks of winter ahead, and the Southeast Steuben County Library in Corning has plenty of activities to keep kids entertained throughout February.

As winter break approaches in the Southern Tier, families looking for fun indoor activities can head to the library for a creative snowman painting event.

"We will paint a snowman, and the painting classes are cool because the kids just get an outline and they can create however they want to create. They can [paint]their background colors, whatever they want to do," shared Miss. Sue, Southeast Steuben Co. Library.

For those who enjoy outdoor fun, the final Skate n' Flick of the season is set for Saturday, February 8th.

"We'll skate from four to six, and then at six o'clock, we'll head over to the library for a movie on the big screen. We're going to watch Transformers 1. Just make sure you stop by the library and get your free skating passes," shared Miss. Sue.

Meanwhile, young readers looking for a challenge can take part in Bookopoly, a reading competition designed to make reading fun. The event runs through March 15th. Gameboards can be picked up at the library.

With the Superbowl just one week away, football fans can also get in on the excitement by predicting the big game

"Come into the children's department, [and] you make your prediction Are the Philadelphia Eagles going to win or are the Kansas City Chiefs going to win? And I will pull one name from the winner's side. They can win that bull, that bills box right there full of really cool stuff. There's snacks and there's gold coins for the coin toss and there's a handmade tic-tac-toe board and all kinds of things in there," added Miss. Sue.

From arts and crafts to skating and reading challenges, the library offers a variety of activities to keep kids engaged through the winter season. The full month of events can be found by clicking here.
