ALBANY, NY (WENY) -- The town Justice for Lindley in Steuben County has resigned, after pleading guilty to Driving While Intoxicated following an arrest last year.

According to the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct, Julie M. Kuck resigned while she was being investigated by the agency. The commission began investigating Kuck in November of 2024, following her arrest that June for allegedly driving drunk with a child in the vehicle.

According to New York State Police, Kuck was charged with Aggravated DWI, DWI,, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a blood alcohol content over .08%. Kuck pleaded guilty in October 2024 to a misdemeanor charge of Driving While Intoxicated, and the other charges were dismissed.

“Driving while under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other perceptiondiminishing substances endangers the driver, passengers, pedestrians and others on
the road. Judges must be especially mindful of setting the right example in this
regard, since their conduct on or off the bench is so often scrutinized and
publicized," said Commission Administrator Robert H. Tembeckjian.

According to the Commission, a stipulation was signed on December 30th, 2024 that Kuck would resign, effective January 10th, 2025. She also agreed to never seek or accept judicial office again. Kuck's term would have expired on December 31, 2025. She is not an attorney.
