PAINTED POST, N.Y. (WENY) -- Meet Sophie and Pipsqueak, WENY’s Pet of the Week from the Pawz and Purrz Animal Rescue!  

Sophie, an 8-year-old dog, and Pipsqueak, a 13-year-old dog, were both recently brought into the shelter after their elderly owner could no longer care for them. 

The two dogs get along well with other dogs and cats, though their interactions with children are still unknown.  

"They're very sweet and adjusting well," said a representative from the rescue. "We hope they can be adopted together. They would be a great fit for a single person or couple." 

Sophie and Pipsqueak are in good health but still need routine vet checkups. They are not on any special diet at this time. 

Pawz and Purrz also announced two upcoming events. The first is a pasta fundraiser on February 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Corning. The spaghetti dinner, which includes meatballs, dessert, and a roll for $10 with all proceeds helping the shelter. 

The second event, a pet adoption day, will take place this Saturday, February 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Arnot Mall in the center court. Dogs and cats will be available for adoption and will be on site for visitors to meet.
