CHEMUNG, COUNTY, N.Y. (WENY) -- A Chemung County student was named as one of the new voices for the New York dairy industry.

Serenity Conklin was selected as Second Associate Ambassador for New York by the American Dairy Association North East. She will serve under the newly named Dairy Ambassador, Olivia Shawley from Cattaraugus County, and First Associate, Addison Brown from Onondaga County.

Conklin and the team serve as spokespeople and advocates for dairy farmers around the state over the course of the next year. They also work directly with consumers, educating them on the environmental and health benefits of dairy.

Conklin's family owns a hobby farm, but she's worked at several dairy farms in the area. She previously served as the Chemung County Dairy Ambassador.

"I strive to promote the dairy industry," said Conklin. "I just love the dairy industry and I'm looking forward to a fun, full year."

The New York Dairy Ambassador Program replaced the State Dairy Princess Program in 2022 to allow young men the opportunity to promote milk products statewide.

The Empire State is a leading dairy producer in the United States. Over 3,000 licensed herds produce more than 16 billion pounds of milk annually.
