Enjoy Empanadas & Sparkling Wine at Upcoming Birria & Bubbly Dinner to Go
(WENY) -- Saturday, March 8th is International Women's Day and two local business owners are celebrating by hosting an event. The owners of Little Clover Wine Company and La Monarka Food Truck are teaming up to host 'Birria & Bubbly Dinner to Go' on Saturday.
"So what we're doing in [Southport] is brand new. We've done a very elegant Day of the Dead dinner in Dundee and then we did a fun, casual dinner at Lake Drum Brewing. Now, this is a to-go dinner. Everyone has to order in advance and you get this amazing meal that was created by Rosa and you get to choose an entire bottle of sparkling wine to go with it," said Erin McMurrough, the owner of Little Clover Wine Company.
Rosa Aguilera, the owner of La Monarka Food Truck added, "We're making everything from scratch. We'll have a variety of empanadas from Birria which is what our food truck is known for, Mexican churros, chipotle corn, dipping sauces, my secret sauce,... It all just pairs well with Erin's wines."
The Birria & Bubbly Dinner to Go is happening on March 8th from noon to 4 p.m. at Chamberlain Acres in Southport. The Spring Fever Handmade Market is happening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Both Aguilera and McMurrough said to be able to run their two businesses side by side on a day like International Women's Day is just incredible.
"I'm really excited, I love to work with [Erin] and her wines speak for themselves. [Getting] to work in your community with another woman is great. Having the support has been fantastic," said Aguilera.
McMurrough added, "I fell in love with Rosa's food first and then I fell in love with Rosa as a person. No matter what event is coming our way, I'm on board to work together."
McMurrough said she's been in the wine business since 2011 and launched her own sparkling wine in 2018.
"Everything takes so much longer when you do a traditional method bubblies [and it] takes three years minimum in the bottle before anyone [can] taste it. I got really into selling it last year when working on some events with Rosa to help promote this sparkling wine," said McMurrough.
Aguilera said she got into the food truck business a few years ago when she was working at a local winery.
"I came up with the idea of working a little bit more with food trucks since I've been working with food for a couple of years. I just miss seeing Mexican food around in the area, so [now] I have a food truck. We go all over the Finger Lakes..." said Aguilera.
The 'Birria & Bubbly Dinner to Go' is $99, and you must pre-order for pickup at Chamberlain Acres. You can place your orders through the La Monarka Facebook page or on Instagram @LaMonarkaFLX.
