HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- This weekend, the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade will return to Hanover Square in Horseheads for its 20th year Saturday, March 8th. The celebration promises exciting features for this milestone anniversary.

"We have pipe bands this year, along with Broome County police and drum corps. The pipe band will kick things off, and the Horseheads marching band will be there too, along with various floats," says organizer Kevin Sullivan.

Village Mayor Kevin Adams shared an exclusive sneak peek with WENY about something fun that will be featured on one of the floats.

"I'm going to drop an exclusive right here. The mayor's float is rumored to feature a five-foot rubber duck dressed in a St. Patrick's Day outfit," Adams revealed.

To kick off the 20th anniversary last weekend, dozens of locals gathered in the square to help paint a large green and white shamrock.

"It's about 10 by 10 or 12 by 10, whatever the dimensions are. Every year, we have a great big green shamrock right in the middle of Hanover Square for the parade," Adams shared.

Parade participants are asked to line up at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Horseheads High School. The official festivities will begin at 2 p.m. at the corner of Center and Fletcher streets.
