Jury Selected for Fatiuna Massaline, Woman Accused of Hitting and Critically Injuring Inv. Theetge

ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- On Monday, March 10th, 14 people were selected to be on the jury for the trial of the woman who's accused of critically injuring a Chemung Co. Sheriff's Investigator last year. After roughly eight hours of jury selection, trial will move forward for Fatiuna Massaline.
Massaline is accused of being the getaway driver in a March 29th, 2024 retail theft detail at the Target in Big Flats that injured Investigator Michael Theetge. Her alleged accomplice Dominick Haley, recently pled guilty for his role in the incident. Police said Haley allegedly tried to steal $300 worth of items from Target and was being chased by Inv. Theetge. Police said the two men ran across the parking lot where Massaline was waiting in a car for Haley.
Police said both Haley and Inv. Theetge jumped onto the hood of the car and then Massaline accelerated, throwing both men to the ground, causing Inv. Theetge to be critically injured. Inv. Theetge suffered a skull fracture and a brain bleed after getting thrown from that vehicle.
He spent a total of 47 days receiving in-patient medical care at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania, and then inpatient rehab in Rochester, New York. Theetge was released from inpatient rehab on May 15th. He also received treatment for his traumatic brain injury in New York City.
Massaline faces charges of assault on a police officer and second-degree assault. It's unclear at the time of this publication if part of Haley's plea deal includes testifying against Massaline.
The trial will continue at 9 a.m. on March 11th.
