Drug Take Back Day events happening in the Twin Tiers

(WENY) -- Unused prescription medications will be accepted at events nationwide on April 26. Drug Give Back Day is part of a national effort spearheaded by the Drug Enforcement Agency.
Tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs will be accepted at events nationwide. The program helps reduce the risk of someone accidentally taking the drugs or stealing it.
The Chemung County Sheriff's Office will be hosting Drug Take Back Day events at the West Elmira Volunteer Fire Department (1299 W. Water St.) and the Southport Volunteer Fire Department (1001 Carl St.) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pills, ointments, liquids and sprays will be accepted at the event. Chemung County will also be accepting needles as well.
The Steuben County Sheriff's Office will be hosting a Drug Take Back Day event with the Steuben Prevention Coalition Opioid Committee at the Public Safety Building in Bath from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Tioga County Sheriff's Office will also be hosting a Drug Take Back Day event at the Tioga County Health and Human Services Building in Owego, N.Y. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Schuyler County Sheriff's Office will also host a Drug Take Back Day event at the Beaver Dams (1165 Co. Rt. 19) and Hector Fire Departments (5736 State Route 414). Unwanted prescription drugs will be accepted at both locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Tompkins County Sheriff's Office will be taking back unwanted or unused drugs at the Public Safety Building on 779 Warren Rd. in Ithaca. Officers will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to collect medications.
Mansfield University Police will be participating in Drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those with unwanted and unused medicine can drop them off at the Doane Center located at 65 Clinton St. in Mansfield.
