TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y. (WENY) -- Tompkins County has launched a new app designed to help give people greener options when it comes to finding a way around the county. Tompkins Transportation Scout is available both on the Apple and Google stores for free.

The app helps people find eco-friendly options for transportation like carpools. vanpools, public transit, carshares, bikeshares and more. The project is being paid for through a grant from the Federal Transit Administration.

The program was designed through a partnership between the county, Go Ithaca, T-CAT, and more. Officials say it is easy to use, and that once you sign up, you can track previous trips and even earn rewards.
