ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Chemung County Nursing Facility will experience intermittent power outages Tuesday in order to replace a generator switch, according to officials.

Work is expected to begin at 5 a.m., and be finished sometime in the late afternoon.

According to Chemung County, phones, lights and the elevator are not expected to work at certain points throughout the day while electricians do their work.

Elevator service is expected to happen from 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Light and phone interruptions are expected to occur between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. as well as 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Officials say the time frames are an estimate, and may change based on how the work progresses Tuesday.

If the phones are not working at any point in the day, people are being asked to call the nursing facilities alternate number at (607)-481-5503.

The nursing facility is adding more support staff Tuesday during the maintenance in order to support residents there.

Officials say they will update resident's emergency contacts throughout the day as the work is completed.
