HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- Sunday is "I Love My Park Day" in New York State and the Village of Horseheads is looking for volunteers to help clean up its parks.

Village officials say Sullivan Park, Teal Park, Memorial Park, Linear Park and Maple Grove Cemetery all need sprucing up. They're asking volunteers to lend a helping hand from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Those interested can volunteer for certain tasks at any park. Sullivan Park is looking for volunteers to plant flowers, build picnic tables, paint the pavilions or general cleanup. Teal Park volunteers are being asked to prepare the dance floor at the facility as well as general cleanup. Volunteers for Memorial Park, Linear Park or Maple Grove Cemetery should be willing to do general cleanup work.

If interested, you can sign up for your preferred job and park on the Village of Horseheads' website. Check-in for the volunteer work begins at Sullivan Park, located on Thorne St., at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the main pavilion.

You are asked to bring rakes and work gloves to most jobs if possible.
