UPDATE 12:00 P.M. 4/26 -- The Chemung County Sheriff's Office says two people remain hospitalized after a serious crash Friday afternoon in the town of Southport.
The two-car crash happened just before 3 P.M. in the area of 2350 South Broadway. When deputies arrived, they found two vehicles; a gray Kia and a GMC Denali, about 100 yards apart, both with severe damage.
In the Kia, the driver, 34-year-old man from Barton, was trapped inside the vehicle with serious injuries. His passenger, a 40-year-old woman, was being treated on scene by EMS. Both were rescued from the car, and airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital. The driver is in the ICU, and the passenger is listed as stable as of Saturday morning.
The people in the Denali, a 60-year-old couple from Columbia Crossroads, PA, were both also trapped in the SUV. They were rescued by firefighters and also taken to Robert Packer Hospital, where they were treated for their injuries and released.
