No one hurt after tractor trailer catches fire on I-86 in Elmira
UPDATE 4 P.M. (6/13): No one was hurt after a tractor trailer caught fire on I-86 Thursday night.
According to the Town and Country Fire Department, the fire was contained to the front of the trailer and rear of the tractor.
The semi-truck was hauling a load of solar salt, which is used for water softeners.

There were no other vehicles involved in the incident, officials say they are investigating the cause of the fire.
UPDATE 2:10 A.M. FRIDAY, JUNE 13TH: According to 511 NY, Interstate-86 westbound near Elmira has reopened. The roads reopened shortly after 1 a.m.
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WENY) -- A portion of Interstate-86 westbound near Elmira is closed after a tractor trailer fire Thursday night.
The fire happened around 9:15 p.m.
Traffic was snarled as first responders responded to the scene. Traffic that was stuck behind the tractor trailer was turned around and sent the other way into the eastbound lanes. According to 511NY, westbound traffic is being diverted at Exit 56 Elmira, detoured to Route 352 then to Route 14, and back onto I-86 in Horseheads. The closure was still in effect as of 12 a.m.
No word yet if anyone was injured.
