BARRINGTON, NY (WENY) -- A portion of State Route 54 in Yates County will be closed temporarily starting next week for repairs.

According to the New York State Department of Transportation, the work being done is an emergency culvert replacement project.

The road will be closed at the culvert one mile north of the Steuben County line in Barrington, beginning Monday, June 16. The road is expected to reopen on Friday, June 20.

Drivers will be detoured using State Routes 230 and 14A. Travelers should expect delays, and seek alternate routes when necessary.

A number of roads in Steuben and Yates counties suffered damages on Monday, after strong storms moving across the area contributed to flash flooding and washed out culverts, road shoulders and more.
