WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Sahlen's Six Hours At the Glen is set for Sunday and will be the first time that all four IMSA classes will be on track since the 12 Hours of Sebring back in March. Nine different manufacturers will be competing in the GTD and GTD Pro classes, including an icon of local history, the Chevrolet Corvette.

Four teams will be running the car that traces its origins back to the road racing that took place in the 1950s. Among them is the #4 of Corvette Racing by Pratt-Miller Motorsports, piloted by Nicky Catsburg and Tommy Milner.

"A good performance here gives you good confidence going forward for the second half of the season. It's a six-hour race, so there's strategy involved. It's one of the shorter endurance races that we do, of course, but there is a lot of strategy involved that we don't normally get for a two-hour and 40-minute race," said Milner.

Milner has raced Corvettes since 2012, picking up class championships in both IMSA and its predecessor the American Le Mans Series, as well as class wins at the 24 hours of Le Mans in 2011 and 2015.

However, Watkins Glen has eluded him in his career, with his best finish at the track coming back in 2021, 2nd place behind the #3 Corvette.

"It's special here at Watkins Glen. The racetrack itself has so much history. This race team has so much history here as well. It's won many races here. It's suited well for this kind of racetrack some long straightaways, some tricky, high-speed corners, the bus stop chicane. So just a great race car for Watkins Glen here," remarked Milner speaking on the challenges and history associated with WGI ahead of the race weekend.

The #4 Corvette Racing team is currently 9th in the GTD Pro standings following back-to-back 6th place finishes at Laguna Seca and Detroit. Milner's teammate Nicky Catsburg competed in last weekend's 24 hours of Le Mans, finishing eighth in the LMP2 Pro-Am class.
