WELLSBORO, PA (WENY) -- The 2025 Pennsylvania State Laurel Queen was crowned Saturday evening, in a coronation ceremony at Wellsboro High School.
Twenty-one candidates participated in this year's event, selected to represent their high schools from across the Commonwealth. This year, rising senior Alice Ravert of Montoursville High School was crowned queen.
Ravert will take over responsibilities as Pennsylvania State Laurel Queen for one year, serving as an ambassador to Wellsboro. She will return to the area in December, to take part in the tree lighting ceremony at Dickens of a Christmas, returning in June of 2026 to crown a new queen during the 2026 Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival. As queen, Ravert will receive a $3,000 academic scholarship. After graduation from high school, she expects to attend Temple University in Philadelphia to pursue an education in music.
Lilly Waleff of Commodore Perry High School in Hadley, PA was named 1st Runner Up, and Alexis Eyer of Millville was named 2nd Runner Up. They received $1,500 and $1,000 academic scholarships, respectively.
During the coronation ceremony, the top ten candidates answer a question at random before the audience. After a brief deliberation, a panel of judges select the top three.
The girls spent the weekend touring various attractions in Wellsboro, taking part in community activities and getting to know each other. Activities included a visit to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, live music at the Deane Center, enjoying the arts and crafts fair on the Green, and riding on floats in the Laurel Festival Parade.
This year marked the 83rd annual Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival in Wellsboro, hosted by the Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce. WENY's Renata Stiehl served as one of the judges for the queen's pageant.
