(WENY) -- 'Snapshot NY' is looking for volunteers to host trail cameras to help track wildlife across the Empire State.

Volunteers can either use their own trail cameras and upload pictures periodically, or a trail camera can be borrowed from the organization. Researchers will use that data to detect and monitor changes among wildlife populations. The organization, a partnership between Cornell University and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, said the data will help officials make informed decisions on wildlife conservation and management. Organizers said the program will also help volunteers better understand the different types of animals that roam their property.
