    This winter storm will have a high impact on the Twin Tiers beginning Saturday afternoon and lasting through Sunday morning.  Light snow will break out Saturday afternoon and become heavy Saturday night.  The heavy snow will taper Sunday morning, but high winds will result in significant blowing and drifting through the day.  Bitterly cold temperatures are likely Sunday and Monday.

    The National Weather Service has upgraded the Twin Tiers and Finger Lakes to a WINTER STORM WARNING for this weekend due to accumulations of 12-20" and gusty winds in excess of 35 mph expected.   The heaviest snow is expected to fall Saturday evening into Sunday morning.     Low pressure will bring a round of light snow to the region tonight with accumulations averaging near an inch by Friday morning.  A much more significant storm system will arrive Saturday afternoon with heavy snow likely Saturday night into Sunday morning.  Frigid temperatures will follow along with blowing and drifting snow.  Total storm accumulation for much of the region will average between 14-18".
