Residents Attend SKYWARN Class
Twin Tiers residents gathered in Corning on Monday night to receive a crash course on weather spotting.
Weather enthusiasts gathered Monday night at Corning Community College for a crash course on severe weather.
About 30 residents attended Monday night's SKYWARN class to learn about more about being weather spotters -- the eyes and the ears helping the National Weather Service.
Topics varied from winter storms and flash flooding, to super cell thunderstorms and tornadoes.
Reports from weather spotters that come in to the National Weather Service help meteorologists issue timely warnings, which WENY-TV meteorologists Joe Veres and John Hickey then relay to our viewers.
The Skywarn classes are free to attend and are offered throughout the year.
