Ithaca (WENY) - Utility boxes on the streets of Ithaca are getting a one of a kind makeover, local artists are putting their unique spin on each one. The City of Ithaca Public Art Commission found 21 artists to paint 21 different boxes across the city to help beautify the streets. Artwork is meant to create a safe, inclusive and inspired urban environment. Artists like Kellie Cox-Brady were selected based on proposals submitted to the commission.

“It gives a chance to artists to share their art and also beautify the area. There were 21 artists who did 21 boxes so there’s a wide range of different types of art and its absolutely amazing to see the different types,” says Kellie Cox-Brady.

A grant from the Tompkins Charitable Gift Fund made the project possible.
