David Perry Indictment Arrest
PAINTED POST (WENY) -- The suspect in the disappearance of a Florida woman is behind bars tonight, on grand larceny charges.
State police arrested David Perry Tuesday, following a grand jury indictment in Steuben County. Police say Perry has been colleting $47,000 per year since 2005 from state and local retirement disability funds. Perry is accused of filing a false claim about an injury he allegedly received while he worked at the Elmira Correctional Facility.
According to state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, Perry has done many activities, like weight lifting and wind surfing, that brought into question whether he was really disabled.
Perry is also the suspect in the disappearance of Florida police cadet Kelly Rothwell, who disappeared one year ago yesterday. Rothwell was in a relationship with Perry; her friends say she was going to break up with Perry the night she went missing.
Perry is now in the Steuben County jail on $100,000 cash bail.
