Elmira (WENY) - It isn't uncommon to drive down one of the worst hit areas by the tornado like third street in Elmira and see trees into homes on almost every corner. Yet, one woman's home in the middle of all the destruction made it through completely untouched. 89 year old Edna May Taylor has been living in her home on third street since 1960. She was visiting her sister in the hospital last Thursday when the storm hit. When she returned, she found her home just as she left it in perfect condition. The tree in her front yard missed her house and landed on the border of the property. Her neighbors weren't so lucky. For now Edna says shes just happy to have power back and her cherished home intact.

“I got on the phone with one of my neighbors and I said I hear the storm hit down there and I said did it hit my house? And they said No the tree fell in front of your house. That's when I really got upset so I said I got to get down there as soon as I can.”

Edna will be turning 90 years old this month.
